THE SCIENCE OF LIFE
RELIABLY PREDICTING AND CAUSING YOUR FUTURE

NOTORIOUSLY BAD PREDICTORS

We humans, many times, are notoriously bad at predicting the future and also about how we will feel if a particular thing happens.  Notoriously!

Most of us have not even learned what actually makes us happy.  (Happiness Creators)

So, we do things that do not get us the desired results.  And, then, alarmingly, we do not note what occurred nor do we correct our strategy!

However, we can learn how to do this, which will result in our living life as a life champion.

THE OBJECTIVE:  RELIABLY PREDICTING/CAUSING YOUR FUTURE

Life is about reliably predicting and causing your future.

Science is about gathering, testing, and legitimizing theories and operations that can reliably predict the future.

With "science", after following "the procedure", I can reliably predict that if I do x (some set of actions) then I can produce y (which is a desired result).

So, my life's quality is dependent on me doing that which will cause my greatest happiness, satisfaction with life.

So what, you say?

Well, the 'so what' is distinguished as:

Without clearly determining what works in life at a high level, you cannot have a high level of quality of experiences in life, and according,

UNLESS YOU DO THIS, YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY BE
                              TRULY, DEEPLY HAPPY!!!!

And most people stop far short of developing the "what is true and what is workable" knowledge and then expect that somehow or through some circumstances they will be happy... and, consequentially, they embark on a life that cannot possibly produce a good level of happiness... and then they settle for it, as if that is all there is!

Such a waste.

BUT APPLYING SCIENCE TO LIFE, WORKS!

If only they would follow science, not as a boring way to do things but as a way to decide what will work in life to produce the highest level of happiness.

In science, one

1.  Studies an area of information and knowledge that one has decided will have worthwhile payoffs

2.  Relies on (and tests) empirical evidence (observing what actually happened!)

3.  Derives a "system of principles" that will "explain and predict" what produces results

4.  Implements the knowledge of "what works" over and over to produce (and reliably predict) future results.

Most people fall short in their endeavors because they fail to examine the information, fail to determine what is actually true, fail to "put it all together" to see what the basic principles and laws are that can be applied to produce a desired result, and then fail to see that the results they are producing with what they believe will work often are undesirable results.   They suffer needlessly and they needlessly miss out on better results in life.  They continue to use strategies and beliefs that do not work...

To quote a specialist (Swiercinsky, see citation in sidebar):  "Such knowledge is slowly and carefully woven into theory that must be scrutinized as well for ill-founded inferences, assumptions, interpretations, and ... applications."  Though he is talking about neuroscience in this article, this refers to all "theory".. and specifically to life, of course.

BAD INFO IN, CAUSES BAD RESULTS (UNLESS EXAMINED)

It seems we humans get information from our parents, culture, friends, what we read, etc. and formulate theories of how things work (often holding on to the same ones we derived in childhood) and then we fail to observe that they are not working and continue to operate off of them.  Instead, those who will succeed in having a great life will notice the results, decide that the results need to be better, decide what the desired results are, look at the process of what got the bad result, determine what should be modified, and then go about gathering and testing knowledge to see what works.   That is a long explanation of the necessary process of being a champion in anything (including life) - use and verify the feedback (on results) and modify often and well, practicing what works until it is automatic, so that it is effortless and then adding the next result-producing practice to it.  This is discussed (with links for further study) in Living Life As A Life Champion as "The Simple 'Secret'".  (Also of possible interest: The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living - Why?)

ONLY IMPLEMENTATION COUNTS, NOT JUST KNOWLEDGE

And, of course, we cannot stop here in this article since concepts unimplemented are just fodder for the mind, of interest, perhaps stimulating, but not enough - not far enough along the "causal chain" to actually cause something to happen!

To succeed at a high level in life, you must use the basics of how humans work and the gift of the basics that we all have.

1.  We must learn how to learn.

2.  Then do the actual learning! (using the techniques of learning: deciding what to learn, deciding the best sources, devising and following a sequence in which to learn).

3.  Then pull it all together, deciding how it all works, using "critical thinking" (examining what is actually true and logical).

4.  Practice and test the theory of how something works

5.  Refine it and improve it so it consistently works.

(You could do this... or you could expect a miracle.  Your choice.)

DECIDING...COMMITTING

And, of course, the decision on whether to learn about and run your life this way will be dependent on whether

1.  You think you can do it. (Am I Capable Of Making My Life Excellent?  Can I Have Confidence In Reaching That HIgher Level?)

2.  The benefits are worth more than the costs.  (Is The Payoff Worth The Time And Effort?  No Contest, If You Pick These, This Way!)

3.  There is enough time to do it.  (Do I Have Enough Time To Create A Great Life?)

(The links are to what I would propose as answers to the questions.)

You must, if you are to have the life and the happiness you are capable of, commit to using "the process" consistently in your life.  (Commitment - An Essential Ingredient To Succeeding.)

THIS IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS SITE

The objective of The Life Management Alliance and this site is to provide the means (including resources, explanations, programs, etc.) for you to systematically learn life and to effectively implement the principles and strategies that work - and to help people toss out the nonsense that does not work... so that they can be enduringly, highly happy in life.

OF COURSE, YOU GOTTA WANTA HAVE A HAPPIER LIFE

I think I assumed that you would want a happier life.  Of course, anybody would be foolish not to want a happier life.  But unless they actually decide in a clear explicit way that they want to be very happy, nothing will happen.  The experts say something like this:

You must decide the objective of your life is to be happy.

Without that decision and recognition of what you want is explicit, then you'll live a life in "vague soup", unclear as to what is really wanted and acceptable, living "in the drift".
