GET RID OF THE PRESSURE AND STRESS
OF BEING A BUSINESS LEADER OR PROFESSIONAL OR HUMAN BEING

We are often so busy working in our business (and life) that we fail to work on our business (and life).  It's the same as the metaphor about the fellow who never sharpened his saw and wondered why the "old guy" was so far ahead of him.

Sam Carpenter got tired of 60-90 hours a week in his business - and has since cut it down to 2 hours a week.  Read his book (free, though I'd buy a hard copy to underline) Work The System.  A vital step beyond the E-Myth.  (YouTube videos:  Interview (43:23).  Get (link from here) the Free Pdf Copy and/or the paperback copy of Work The System: The Simple Mechanics Of Making More And Working Less

Each business owner should have read by now about the way that business owners are ruining their lives (and often the lives of those who work for them) who have technical skills think that it is their "design genius" or their "unique capability" that is so precious and necessary.  But that is a delusion, as any good manager will tell you.  Read, right away, The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It by Michael E. Gerber.

Mandatory reading for anyone in business or in life is Richard Koch's 80/20 principle based books, specifically in this case The 80/20 Manager: The Secret To Working Less And Achieving More.

As a "high producer", I took the coaching course at the Strategic Coach, which emphasized "free days" for the entrepreneur and got rid of many of the delusions and artifical pressures that such people put on themselves.  See my page on them The Strategic Coach - Catapulting Productivity And Free Time! (and buy their materials - well worth it!)

I appreciated the psychological strategies and other strategies from coach Sharon Melnick, Ph. D. in Success Under Stress - Powerful Tools For Staying Calm, Confident, And Productive When The Pressure's On

I'll guarantee that if you read these and start to do a few of the actions, you will start to reap benefits quickly and then they'll build to a huge level - and one where you can actually pass your business onto someone else.   (Link to The Seven Stages Of A Business from the Business Contents, Links page

This will be one of the best things you've ever done in your life!

(Oh, and read the e-myth before you say that your business absolutely cannot get along without you or your drivenness.)

Of course, I hope by now that you have thoroughly digested Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People.

MY BIG MISTAKE AND "RESCUE"

As a "technician" and owner of a business, I was a bit like the legend of the lemming, so driven I could keep on going until I drowned in the ocean.  Thank goodness I hired a coach - and starting working "on" my  business and also taking Wednesday's off, while no longer going into the office before 10 am.
