VIRUSES
KNOW THE ENEMY AND HOW TO HANDLE IT

(Not an "expert" article, but one made for overall understanding for myself.  Consult your professional.)

Read the referenced articles (left hand sidebar), so you understand "how it works", as this makes you aware permanently of what causes what and helps you know "how to work" things.

1.  Don't get exposed (and wash it off)
2.  Maximize the immune system, help it move the stuff out fast (and don't reintake it!)
       Lots of liguids, movement, clearing the transporters out.
       Wash hands, head soaks and/or squirters to clear out mucus

I figure viruses duplicate wildly and fast, especially when they stick around (literally, mucus and lining).  Get them moving out of the system very fast.  Get the immune system up and fighting it, so don't lower your temperature as fever helps slow virus growth down!  Eat lots of veggies and good food (no sugar or refined carbs as those impair the immune system!).   Hot showers, baths
 
No miracle will occur     

A seeming miraculous body process will happen, but it is pure mechanics.  The foreign invader has to be detected, which means it already has had to mulitiply enough to do so.  Then the "antibodies" and "killer cells" need to be generated more plentifully, until they finally are sufficient to win the battle.  Nobody is immune to viruses (unless they have actually been immunized, of course!).  [Antibodies are "proteins" made by the body's immune system to target a specific kind of germ or other foreign substance.]

Help to prevent, alleviate:

Optimal wellness (including low stress), as immune system processes it to kill it.
   Sugar, lack of rest, lack of exercise - cause problems. (Besides causing other problems,
    sugar suppresses the immune system and killer t cells!)
Move the mucus fast, as they attach to mucus, which can be a breeding ground
Move it - movement moves the lymph system, which transports the toxins out of the body
Transport it quickly - clean all surfaces you use, wash with very hot water or degerming solution

Supplements

Garlic in natural form (freeze-dried extracts are good)
Beta-glucan   improves the fighting power of the immune system. Take with food, 1 capsule daily for prevention, or 2-3 capsules a day for treatment.
Vitamin C - 500-1000 mg every two hours at first sign until gone (preventative 1,000 to 2,000 mg/day)
Sunlight (and/or sunlight lamps) and vit D.

How you get it

Because one virus can reproduce thousands of new viruses, viral infections can spread quickly throughout the body.
1. An infected person sneezes near you.
2. You inhale the virus particle, and it attaches to cells lining the sinuses in your nose.
3. The virus attacks the cells lining the sinuses and rapidly reproduces new viruses.
4. The host cells break, and new viruses spread into your bloodstream and also into your lungs. Because you have lost cells lining your sinuses, fluid can flow into your nasal passages and give you a runny nose.
5. Viruses in the fluid that drips down your throat attack the cells lining your throat and give you a sore throat.
6. Viruses in your bloodstream can attack muscle cells and cause you to have muscle aches.

Direct transfer of body fluids from one person to another -- saliva, sweat, nasal mucus, blood, semen, vaginal secretions
Surfaces on which body fluids have dried (so don't touch your face without first washing your hands thoroughly)


Avoid the virus!

Don't be around sources (people with colds and touching, breathing, bodily fluids)
   Periods of contagion (always contagious while you are having symptoms, but can be contagious before showing signs):
        Stomach flu (varies, but use three days after recovery)
        Cold, 5 days after onset is the most contagious, but it is still contagious while you have any symptoms)  (incubation period 12hurs to 5 days, usually 2 days)
Wash hands the right way (frequently, hot soapy water for 20 seconds) alot and right awy, never touch face after touching a surface.  (Hand sanitizers work)

Use paper towels instead of community towels in the bathroom and kitchen.
If your spouse is ill, sleep on the couch or in the guest room, and use a different bathroom.
If a sick child crawls in bed with you, sleep behind the child to avoid his or her coughs and sneezes.
Avoid contact with counters, utensils, phones, and other objects the sick person has touched.
Wash your hands often.

Don't stop the fever!

This fever actually helps you to fight the infection by slowing down the rate of viral reproduction, because most of your body's chemical reactions have an optimal temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius). If your temperature rises slightly above this, the reactions slow down. This immune response continues until the viruses are eliminated from your body. However, if you sneeze, you can spread thousands of new viruses into the environment to await another host (including yourself).

You stop spreading it

To reduce the risk of spreading or contacting viruses, here are things you can do:

•Cover your mouth or nose when you sneeze or cough.
•Wash your hands frequently, especially after going to the bathroom or preparing food.
•Avoid contact with the bodily fluids of others.

Use the designated medicines, not misused ones

Read the label and only use the medicine that specifies the effect you are experiencing.

Antibiotics (for bacteria) have no effect on viruses.

Notes

Once inside, they find a host cell to infect. For example, cold and flu viruses will attack cells that line the respiratory or digestive tracts.
Once inside the cell, the viral enzymes take over those enzymes of the host cell and begin making copies of the viral genetic instructions
