SHOULD I USE ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS?
ESPECIALLY TO LOWER CALORIES?

YOU'VE BEEN DUPED! (AND YOU DON'T EVEN GET TO LOSE LBS!)

Whenever we consider the effects of something, we must consider all of the effects, now and over time.  Otherwise, we are being quite "unsmart".

So, it is true that calorie free artificial sweeteners will provide whatever it is in with fewer calories than the sugared version - by alot.

But then why would a super-professional, knowledgeable, nutrition specialist physician (and many of his colleagues) suggest that if you must drink soda drink it with sugar in it instead of diet soda?

????

What is missing in the picture that most people have?  Have they oversimplified and come to premature conclusions with too little fact?

Yes, absolutely.

At one time, I drank about 6 -8 cans of diet cherry Coke (loved the little caffeine boost).  But a friend of mine began to suggest that the artiticial sweetener actually turned to formaldehyde (for embalming me prematurely) in the body.  Safe consumption, as defined by the EPA is 7.8 mg a day of wood alcohol which is a byproduct of consuming aspartame - and about the amount provided by a half can of diet soda.   Oh, and then there's formaldehyde, which will help promote your getting cancer...and maybe, if we consume a fair amount, we can have some "metabolic acidosis to cause methanol poisoning, which can result in blindness, fatal kidney damage, multiple organ system failure.."  (See Dr. Mercola article, in the box to the upper left of the page.)

And then there's headaches, sleep problems, mood effects...and on and on.  (Read the article!)

Well, that's not a pretty picture!

But is it true?

Yes.

But there is much more to this whole scenario.

Artificial sweeteners provide substances unrecognized by the body, which cause excitotoxicity - which can feel exciting, but it is only because the body is stimulated to try harder to metabolize them out of the body - setting the stage for health problems.

AND THE FINAL IRONY: IT CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN

How can zero calories cause weight gain?  Or more extremely how can something that lowers the amount of calories consumed at the time cause weight gain?

This is the final insult to the weight conscious public.

As Mark Hyman, MD. writes in Artificial Sweeteners Could Be Sabotaging Your Diet, "there's no doubt about it.  Artificial sweeteners cause obesity."

Whew!

It turns out that artificial sweeteners cause a consumption of more calories than what would ordinarily be the case without them!  And it will cause a lowering of one's metabolism, which would cause weight gain in terms of the reduced expenditure of energy to burn calories!

They actually stimulate your appetite, increase carbohydrate cravings, and stimulate fat storage and weight gain. (See Artificial Sweeteners Cause Greater Weight Gain Than Sugar, Yet Another Study Reveals, Dr. Mercola.)

Bad news!

WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE?

Well, as I've become savvier, I eliminated most of my diet coke and I've used Stevia (natural sweetener) to sweeten things.  But, it appears that I better cut out anything that is toxic, plus it is unhealthy to drink highly acid drinks when an alkaline body is required for good functioning of the body.  Why would I continue to drink toxins into my body?  That would be foolish.  So I've decided that I can do fine without them (with my Stevia), so I will just use natural sweeteners, period.

It appears that I should not be eating or drinking any man-made "food", period.

Of course, in the face of all of this evidence, you could for some reason somehow choose to continue to use this stuff, have the ill effects, not feel as good, and to malfunction in life.

Your choice...
