SETTING UP THE ENVIRONMENT THAT WILL INSURE YOUR HEALTH
AND INSURE CONTINUITY

As something gets so bad that we can't deny it or as we occasionally see that we want to look better or feel better, we go on "binges" toward health - what might be called "sporadic efforts", only for the short term, while often afterwards regressing back into the former condition.

But one strategy that is very likely to work to cause long term consciousness and better practices is to set up a "health" environment at home, where you can't help keep it "top of mind".

That would be one extra reason to buy exercise equipment for home, other than making it easier to exercise.  If a treadmill or recumbent bike is strategically placed where the family congregates and where most of the tv or videos are watched, it is convenient to just exercise while doing other things - plus it is sitting there, right in your face, instead of another room to go into.

And if you buy that smart scale that uses impedance to measure your fat % when you get on it to check your weight, you can't help but be conscious of that fat % that for some is more confrontive than gaining a few pounds here and there.

If you have a policy of having no toxic junk food, including no refined products, and you do the initial purge from your kitchen, play be sure to have large bowls in the refrigerated full of cooked vegetables (from a supply of frozen, prepared vegetables), there will be another reminder of the intention to live healthy and a clearly defined policy where we know when we are in violation.  (See Checklist For Weight Loss.)

If you throw away your bigger size clothes after you lose weight, and perhaps buy some new really nice clothes for your new svelt figure (men, too), you'll be less inclined to not see the need to stay the smaller size.

Of course, if you get three friends to swear to healthy living, you will tend to keep each other honest.

And then, finally, to the extent possible, spend as little time as possible with people who will tend to pull you toward dysfunctional behavior - people who are healthy and supportive and positive - you will automatically tend to do better.  We become like the people we are around, particularly the 5 closest to us.

Of course, a $5,000 agreed penalty for not staying at the right weight, checked annually by the others in the agreement tends to be a positive influence.

And finally if you have a notebook that is kept in a prominent place, with fairly large lettering on the spine that says "My Health Notebook", you will not only be reminded, but you can look up various things that are healthy plus your targets for what you want healthwise (all organized behind subject tabs).

In any event, all you can do that stacks the odds in the favor of this being a long term committed way of living will be a huge influence on you, for your long term well-being.  This is in contrast to the normal approach, alot of effort and some initial results and then forgetting about it and going back to living the life of PokeyMan (aka "El Blobbo"), which is a very unsane way of living if you think about it - but few people do that thinking...

Will you?  Will you set up an environment that is strongly pro-health?

Health, and Fitness Links, Contents

Read the pieces on this site about how to manage your health (including the links to outside screened experts), you will learn how to be healthy and committed.  The book of what I learned in my process should also be helpful, as I blew away things that I had believed were true and discovered what was actuall true, in depth.  I wrote about it in the almost zero cost Kindle book that has many, many links to take you into the level of depth you need.  But more importantly it will help get you to implement good health in a relatively short time.  Its title may change over time, but look for the link in Books for the quickest route to weight loss and high health.
