WHAT KEEPS ME GOING
ON THIS QUIXOTIC VENTURE
Originally this was going to be a much simpler quest: to identify the resources that people could go to to create the life they would truly love.
One problem on the way: I could hardly find any that did the job. Some had lots of information, but how could one use it? And who has the time for all of that?
It seemed that hardly anybody tied it all together nor did they seem to break everything down into followable steps.
Thus it was that I began this site as the Don Quixote trying to ride between the giant windmills and experts, and me without the "requisite" formal education nor having hands on experience as a trained therapist.
Although each piece, of which there are now about two thousand, takes a few hours at least, I've schlogged on, hoping that I could get something together that would have the significant impact on at least some people's lives, so that they being highly capable of running their lives, with a hoped-for byproduct that they would influence others to do the same and then to affect the entire world and its progress.
Small goal.
A comment from a therapist my brother told about my venture: "that is impossible".
Well said.
Nevertheless it seems to be what I want to do (and it also benefits me personally to refine and know this information - and to test it).
So, I continue.
Since a website is rarely something that people read extensively nor in any particular order, I'm trying to figure out what will work to have them follow a continuous, systematic path that will get them further much faster.
I put in a number of learning/implementation programs and a number of checklists to follow, but I suspect that few people really access it. (The site is rated at about number 3,700,000 - not many visitors, though I plan to increase that when I have the site more polished and more complete. But, methinks, it is best to first pull together the materials such that they are very, very highly usable - and then, not too long from now, do the publicizing.)
What "kindled" my writing the books were a couple of requests to "just tell me what to do", meant to be in the form of step by step instructions to attain the objective.
So, now, I have decided to write some ebooks (Kindle) that are short but which "tie it altogether" so that people will see how things work in clear perspective AND so that they have actions they can take RIGHT NOW to have significant gains.
(As I write this, I recall a special friend who wrote an excellent book that would be significantly impactful to people who would read it, but, alas, the marketing problem could not be solved sufficiently to get the book out to all who need it. I recognize that problem for myself, but I rationalize that I can still help a few people and that a book is more likely to get them to follow a program.)
I started with what I thought would be the first step, although it might not seem to be logical to many. I figured they needed to create the time and a huge surge forward in their productivity - and they need to follow specific "do this in this order" and "copy this" so that they could "slam" these immediately into place, to experience significant gains within a two week period. It's title at this time: The Quickest Route To High "Life Productivity" From Wherever You Are Now.
I can empathize with my friend who spent hours and hours and hours perfecting the book. It can seem never-ending. So I've decided to write "imperfect" books with only the criterion that they work (and are "adequately" readable).
Thank you to those who have sent me an email from the site expressing appreciation and sharing with me how they have used the site. (See the left sidebar for links to some of them.) [I keep special files for thank you's, compliments, achievements - as it is one of the things I recommend for all people's Positives Portfolio.)
Onward!
