HOW TO FIND THE TIME FOR LIFE IMPROVEMENT
THERE'S LOTS OF TIME AND YOU'LL GET MORE SPARE TIME

There is a peculiar effect where we spend time, yet in the process gain more time than we spent.  How can that be?

It happens in "life improvement", as each area improves problems disappear and time spent in getting "relief" drops dramatically and we become vastly more productive per unit of time.

We spend 1 unit, we get back at least 1 1/2 units in the short term, but 100 to 1000+ units over time.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE?

Finding the time for life improvement is easy, though it is different for people in different situations, as the place where we free up time will vary by how it is currently occupied.

It should be supremely easy for people in retirement, but they will often become attached to what they do, as if it is a need, but it really isn't.  And/or they are also likely to be letting other people dictate their lives.  But this is a very solvable 'box'.

Someone who works might, of course, have more of a challenge, but, if they look, much of their time is spent in low value activities outside of work (as well as in work!) and in trying to relieve oneself of stresses and anxieties (which are totally unnecessary) instead of resting and recovering in a productive way.   They also fail to regulate their functioning enough - so that they end up "too tired" to do what is of more value and/or just plain unproductive while they are in a low functioning range.   Almost everyone who works has 24-34 hours of pure discretion time after we've already built in the life improvement time!  And others have even more.  (See How Much Time Do I Have?  A Perspective On Time, modeled for someone who works full-time.)

WHERE I GET IT FROM

Just follow the items in Time Savers - How To Save 40% Of Your Time

WHAT ABOUT ENERGY?

Yes, thinking does take extra energy.  Just reading and watching learning videos takes less, so we can do those when we have low energy.

Focused thinking time should be early in the morning (so start your day earlier per the Pre-Set Schedule model and use Saturday mornings for the biggest time blocks, along with Sunday morning early.  That thinking time must be Protected Time, unrenegotiable and only violated by true emergencies (house burning down and such).

Of course, using the strategic nap will cause you to regain thinking ability and sharpness of mind.

THE IRONY OF IT ALL

Besides the promised 1 1/2 hours freed up for each hour of self improvement time, you'll find that you will "feel" like you haven't lost any time at all.  And you'll get so used to the routine that it'll be no effort.

And you'll have plenty of time to do all you want to, plus the extra energy from the grounding, exercising, and from feeling the progress that is being made and feeling the strengthening of your personal foundation.

Cumulative benefits

While short term benefits more than compensate for the time taken, the benefits achieved are always there.  So, as we go forward we accumulate time freed up from not having problems to take our time and from not having stress that forces us into low value or harmful "relief" time.
